Subject Description

This subject explores climate change mitigation, focusing on actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance removal through sinks. It provides a multidisciplinary overview of mitigation strategies, with emphasis on technical feasibility and effectiveness across sectors such as energy, transport, buildings, industry, agriculture, and land-based systems. Breakthrough technologies are also examined. The course assesses the technical, economic feasibility, and transformation pathways for reducing emissions, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of different strategies within national and international frameworks. It emphasizes that effective mitigation requires a multi-faceted approach across various societal sectors, rather than a single solution.
