Subject Description
This subject focuses on the unique epidemiology of infectious diseases, where cases can lead to further infections, immunity plays a key role in transmission, and rapid detection and response are often necessary. Students will learn strategies for identifying and responding to infectious disease problems, with content updated weekly to reflect current events. Emphasis is placed on practical applications of infectious disease epidemiology, including surveillance and response. Students will also develop essential terminology, communication skills for reporting, and problem-solving abilities through scenario-based exercises.

Overall a decent subject and it gave me a good overview of infectious disease epi. The content can be a bit dry (cough cough surveillance) but the tutorials were pretty good and I liked discussing content with other students. There is no in-person lecture but a Q+A every week with Alicia and Violetta, they are friendly and very knowledgeable. I think I would have preferred in-person lectures though, rather than pre-recorded ones. The work-load is quite doable for a intensive subject and the assessments are quite straightforward and marked fairly.
I learnt so much infectious disease epi concept and disease surveillance .
This was one of my favourite subjects. I did it a couple of years ago. The module videos were a bit boring but the subject itself is interesting. The tutorials were excellent, the best tutorials I have ever had. The assessments were enjoyable, though it was a it stressful as we had a short answer due each week in the first few weeks, and the coordinator took a long time to reply to the discussion board. But I understand the coordinator has now changed so that has hopefully improved.
Great introduction
