Subject Description
This subject introduces students to health services research, focusing on organizing, managing, financing, and delivering high-quality care to improve patient safety and health outcomes. Unlike medical research, which centres on clinical treatments, health services research explores care delivery and access for individuals, families, and populations. Topics include health service financing, data sources in high-income countries, research design, and qualitative and quantitative methods. Students will also learn about evaluating health services, knowledge translation, and stakeholder involvement. The course includes guest lectures from experienced researchers, preparing students for roles in research, clinical settings, management, or health policy.
